Miguel Angel has substantial experience in coordinating complex multi-jurisdiction litigations as well as in advising on dispute resolution matters relating to copyright, IP, unfair competition, fundamental rights, defamation, privacy law and image rights, media, advertisement and sports.
He has an LLM from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and was admitted to the Madrid Bar in 1986. Prior to joining Bird & Bird, Miguel Angel was Head of CMS Albiñana & Suarez de Lezo IP, IT & Media Dept. He was also formerly a partner at Gomez-Acebo & Pombo and, beforehand Head of the Legal Department at the Musician Performers Collecting Society of Spain (AIE).
Miguel Angel is a lecturer on protection of innovation, software and business models in programmes developed by the Spanish Patent Office. He also lectures on copyright and IP programmes organised by the Judicial Power General Council (CGPJ) for judges. Additonally he has beena Professor in the Public Law Department of Universidad Autonoma de Madrid since 1994 and a Professor in Masters in Spanish Copyright and Entertainment Law at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, Universidad Autonoma, Universidad Carlos III, Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE), EOI Escuela de Negocios and Instituto de Estudios Cajasol.
Miguel Angel is also a member of ALADDA (Spanish Chapter of Association Literaire et Artistique Internationale) and LES-i (Licensing Executives Society International).
